A full day that was unfortunately shortened by an hour due to tired feet. English speaking Tokyo-guide Kasumi guided the family from Stockholm.
I met Åsa and her family at the hotel where they were staying. They seemed to be in very good shape despite landing yesterday after a long flight from Stockholm.
We went to Shinjuku Station from their hotel to buy IC cards (Suica). IC cards are very comfortable to use for groups when travelling with buses and underground. Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building is located on the way to Shinjuku Station, so naturally we went and looked at this gigantic building that occupies a couple of blocks.
An injury to her leg made it difficult for Åsa's mother to walk long distances. Therefore we had to change the tour a bit and leave Ginza to another day.
We went to Skytree for the magnificent view over Great-Tokyo. From Skytree on to Nakamise and Senso-ji temple and I told them about the difference between a temple and a shrine.
After a short walk in Asakusa, we had tempura soba for lunch. After a nice lunch and some rest we went to see the Shibuya scramble crossing from above. The family took a taxi back to their hotel. (Unfortunately, they did not walk the crossing.)
During the tour, Åsa asked about the double-decker sightseeing bus, the water cruise and the Imperial Palace. I reserved seats for them on the double decker for tomorrow. Åsa's mother looked very tired with her aching feet. They arrived in Japan last night and were really tired and bothered a bit by jet lag. Sad we had to shorten the tour. Ver nice people so I really wanted to continue. Hopefully the remaining days in Tokyo were very fruitful.
Even though mum got tired and we had to shorten the tour we had a nice day and Kasumi is fantastic.
